Obituary of BEVERLEY DAVIS McFARLANE

In Loving Memory BEVERLEY DAVIS McFARLANE October 29, 1931 - March 19, 2014 Beverly Davis McFarlane a longtime resident of Providence Bay, was born October 29, 1931 and passed away March 19, 2014 at Mindemoya Hospital after a short stay with his loving daughter Brenda by his side. He was the son of Loyal and Estella McFarlane. Dearly loved husband of Marjorie Alberta (Kay) McFarlane. Beverley will be sadly missed and was the loving father of six children, Miles (Nancy), Greg (Sherri), Merdick (Valerie predeceased), Edward (Shirley), Mona (Glen) Bryan, and Brenda (Keith) McAllister and stepson Jerry (Lorie) Rushton. Also survived by brothers Reg (Carol) and Gary (Patricia). Also survived by sister in law Jean. Predeceased by siblings Pearl (Ian) McKenzie, Tom (Mabel), Norma (Gordon) Hoyle, Ken (Lenora), Ron, Sandra (George) Aselberg. Predeceased by his second wife Anne Davis McFarlane, and stepchildren Joe, Sam and Marilyn Davis. He was the proud grandpa and papa of 18 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Beverley reminisced to his grandchildren about his first job which was loading pulp on a ship in Providence Bay. He also sailed on merchant ships on the great lakes. In 1951 he moved to Toronto and opened his own construction business, building subdivisions. When he lived in Toronto he was a sparring partner for boxers. He then moved back to Manitoulin and began his own construction company. His buildings were many and include the Wiky Nursing Home, Band office and Arena, and numerous houses in Wiky, and he remodeled and added an addition to the Providence Bay Hall. He worked on several buildings when he lived in Wawa, Ontario. He also built the last house for his mother in Providence Bay. He spent 12 years as an instructor for Cambrian College and taught his trade too many students. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday March 22, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Community of Christ Church. In lieu of flowers we would appreciate a donation to either the Community of Christ Church, Cancer Society and the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
