Our deepest sympathy is offered to Rose and Family. Doug has many fond and positive memories of TJ while he was a teacher at MSS. Always wanted to inspire and help students in special need of support. I visited many times to his home while Deanne, Suzanne and Ed were young teens. He will be deeply missed by many. Our prayers are with you at this sad time.

Rose and family. So sorry I could not relay my sincere condolences in person. Due to a nasty cold and cough I felt it was best not to attend in person. My thoughts and prayers have been with you.

It was long before I formally met T.J. the Haweater, that I first met T.J. the dedicated and demanding coach, barking instructions to his athletes as I raced against them in my high school days. Not knowing at that time would I turn to this same uncompromising coach to help guide me to improve my marathon training. I remember it as if it were just yesterday; picking up the phone and having to tell him that on the weekend I had entered into a sportsman hockey tournament and tore up the cartilage in my right knee. There was a brief silence on the other end of that line then he lit into me telling me how foolish I'd been especially after all the months of intense training he had put me through( I don't think those were the exact words he used). Nothing really had changed as he was again making me accountable for my actions. T.J. also took this competitive drive to a whole new level when it was personal. One day I biked from Mindemoya to Gore Bay to visit him. I hung around his house for a while, shot a few arrows in his back yard then left to head back home. T.J. suggested that he would bike with me so off we went. The wind was quite strong that day and as we rounded the corer to head down the Billings we met the wind head on. T.J. decided to put the hammer down and of course my competitive juices started to flow as well. About three quarters down the stretch T.J. would pass me for the last time as I would have no answer for his move. I still remember that smile and glint in his eyes as he looked over to me and said, "Got Cha!!! " Of course he would tell that story over and over again when we would be together and company was around. He always would fail to mention that he turned around shortly after that and left me to fight up the hill at the end of the stretch. For me, T.J. was a great coach and a great friend and will always be fondly remembered as I reminisce.

T.J. will always be remembered fondly for his encouragement and positive attitude but also for his level of expectation--no matter what level you were competing at he had expectations of training, dedication, good attitude, teamwork, and in general a good work ethic. AND he was not afraid to call us on any of it. Both Greg and I talk often of him and our kids both feel they know who he is although they have never met him. He leaves a big hole in this world. Our condolences to you and your family Rose. xo
