Obituary of Kenneth George Boothe

BOOTHE, Kenneth George beloved husband of Elaine Lefevre-Boothe (nee Hughes) passed away Dec. 28, 2014 at home in Kagawong ON (Manitoulin Island) after a courageous six-year battle with colon cancer. Ken was born in Hebburn, England Sept. 20, 1948. His 37-year-career with the gelatin plant of Canada Packers, eventually sold to Nitta Gelatin, was entirely spent at the same location in Toronto's west end. Ken was predeceased by his beloved parents Canadian George Henry Boothe, a WWII Vet (1918-2009) & British war-bride, Irene (Douglass) Boothe (1923-1998.) He was also predeceased by his youngest sister Sharon (1959-1989.) He will forever be missed by his cherished step-children Sergeant Derek Lefevre based at CFB Esquimalt - Victoria BC and biologist Dr. Kara Lefevre, Rob Saint and young sons Cedar & River of Hamilton ON. Grandsons Cedar & River were an immense joy to their Granda. Ken will be deeply missed by his devoted Boothe siblings: dear sister Lynda & James McVarish; brother Doug & Eleanore (Galloway), Lacey, Scott; brother John & Carol (Caleb) Laing, Jeniffer Skye, Dolly, Darlene, Phil, Rachael, Ian; brother Andrew & Michelle (Laing), Sarah (& predeceased infant Ryan.) Ken was also predeceased by many loving aunts & uncles both in Canada and England. He will sadly be missed by Aunt Helen (Boothe) Chapman Knowler (Doug); Uncle Lennie Boothe and Uncle Jim Henderson. Also mourning are many Boothe, Hutcheson and Henderson cousins in Canada, along with many Douglass cousins in England. Ken was also dearly loved by his wife's Hughes, Needham & Moore families in ON, BC & PEI. Elaine's Hughes sisters Blanche (John McGill), Rita (Edward Needham) include eight nieces and nephews in ON & BC. He was predeceased by his sister-in-law Rita in Aug. 2013. Both growing up in Toronto ON, Ken & Elaine became permanent residents of Kagawong ON, Manitoulin Island in 2001 after many years of summer vacations at Viva Villa on Lake Kagawong. A celebration of Ken's life will be held at the Culgin Funeral Home, Gore Bay on Wednesday January 7, 2015 at 11 a.m. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Manitoulin Health Centre as expressions of sympathy. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph's Church, 162 Leslie St. (Leslieville) (South of Dundas, North of Queen St) Toronto on Friday January 9, 2015 at 11 a.m. A time of refreshment will be held at The Duke of York restaurant (corner of Leslie & Queen Sts - parking at rear off Leslie) at 12 noon, followed by burial at Holy Cross Cemetery, Thornhill, at 2:15 pm.
