I am deeply saddened by Susan’s passing; indeed, "something precious has been lost." Susan had a wonderful ability to ask great questions with wit, intelligence and grace. Nothing passed by her; she was smart and observant. Rolled together with all this was a wicked sense of humour. I learned a lot from Susan, and had a lot of fun in the process. My best collaboration at Lakehead was working with Susan in the final stages of her thesis. There was no one better to challenge dogmas of educational research. And, I loved her for it. Megwich, Susan.

Susan taught me how to be a good teacher, but she also showed me how to be a better person. You could hear her laughter from down the hallway. I always left with a smile on my face when we visited. Lakehead has never been the same without her.
