Obituary of Margaret Kathleen Noble
After battling with cancer, Margaret (Peggy) Kathleen (O'Neil) Noble of Silver Water, passed away peacefully with her family by her side, on October 12, 2015. Survived by husband James Lyle Noble, daughters Karen Noble (Albert Meijer), Aileen Noble (Richard Callahan), son Shawn Noble, daughter Lara Chevrette (Chad) and grandchildren Meghan, Larissa, Tamara, Colton, Jackson and Ronan. Also survived by sisters Joyce Hilton (Don), Loretta Kritz (James), brother James O'Neil (Shirley Flick), sister-in-law Audrey McCulloch (Garth predeceased) and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by loving parents John (Jack) Alexander O'Neil and Lauretta Pauline (MacNamara) O'Neil.
Peggy was born at the family residence in Garson, Ontario on December 29, 1944. Peggy was a teacher who taught every grade from junior kindergarten through grade thirteen. She was a poet who wrote and recited for entertainment. Together with Marion Seabrook and the students at Manitoulin Secondary School she put together a book, and later she became editor of the yearbook at MSS. She penned the book of history for Our Lady of Canada Church in Mindemoya entitled "The First Fifty Years." She dabbled in arts and crafts including painting, drawing, knitting, crocheting, quilting, and cross-stitch. Fishing and hunting were sports she enjoyed. Peggy was a member of the Hospital Board of Directors at the time when the helipad was built at the Little Current site. She was a founding member of the Father Eugene Papineau Benevolent Fund and a member of CLC. She has supported many religious communities across Manitoulin Island especially those in Gore Bay, Silver Water, and Sheshegwaning.
Visitation will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Gore Bay on Thursday October 15, 2015 from 2:00-4:00 pm and 7:00-9:00 pm where the funeral mass will be held on Friday October 16 at 11:00 am. Lunch to follow in the church basement. Cremation will follow and ashes to be scattered in a private family gathering at a later date. Memorial donations to be made to Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, the Manitoulin Lodge Auxiliary Angel Bus fund, or the Western Manitoulin Cancer Society as expressions of sympathy.
