Obituary of Kenneth John Tipper

TIPPER - Dr. Ken of Mindemoya, passed away peacefully on Sunday July 31, 2016 at Mindemoya Hospital, in his 89th year. Beloved father of Sean (Katherine) and dear granddaddy of Dayne and Alexa. Ken will be sadly missed by his brothers in law Mick (Isabel) Brouse, Marv (Isabel) Brouse, sisters in law Dodie, Jean and Pat Brouse as well as many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his wife Marion, son Sandy, parents Rowland and Mary Jane (Watson) Tipper and brothers Howard (Esther) and Doug (Orma) Tipper. Tip was born in Huntsville where he grew up before he went to Veterinarian College in Guelph. His first Veterinarian practice was in Massey where he met the love of his life Marion. They married, he practiced in Sturgeon Falls, North Bay and then finally moved to Manitoulin Island in 1961 and began his own Vet practice here until he retired in 2003 at the age of 75. He loved his work as a Vet. He was very active in his community over the many years he lived on Manitoulin. He served on many different boards including the Manitoulin Hospital Board, the Mindemoya School Board, Cambrian College Board, Manitoulin Non Profit Homes, Central Manitoulin Township Council, Warden for St. Francis of Assisi Church, and judged animals at the local school Fall Fair. Tip was dedicated to his family. He was always interested in what they were involved with whether it be academics, athletics, playing cards/board games and local school plays. He loved to fish with his boys; he always carried a fishing pole in his vehicle while out doing his farm calls. Going to church with his family weekly was always a high priority for him. He loved his wife dearly. His boys were the apples of his eye and heart. His pride/love for his grandchildren shone through whenever he had a chance to talk about them. A finer family man you would never find. Tip will be remembered by many people for the true gentleman he was. He had high morals and values. Education was very important to him. He loved the Lord. He loved people and he loved the animals he cared for. He really enjoyed chatting and talking about the good old days and was amazing at knowing all the farmers and their families even long after he was retired. He was a brilliant man right to the end of his life. He will be missed dearly by family and friends, but they know he is exactly where he has wanted to be for some time now. A short memorial/prayer service will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Anglican Church, Mindemoya on Thursday August 4, 2016 at 4 pm. A come and go visitation will be held after the service at the church. Memorial donations may be made to the Manitoulin Special Olympics, St. Francis of Assisi Anglican Church or the Mindemoya Hospital Auxiliary as expressions of sympathy through www.simpsonfuneralhome.ca
