Obituary of John Roy Strain

STRAIN - John, of Gore Bay, passed away on Tuesday August 16, 2016 in his 86th year. He is survived by his brother Ross (Marge), brothers in law Jim Panton (Kathleen), Don Simpson, sisters in law Heather Strain, Connie Harrison, Fern Patterson and Nancy Panton. John will be missed by his nephew George (Allison) and nieces Jill (Rick), Juli (Danny), Gail, Katie (Todd), Kelsey and many more nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by his wife Cleo, parents Roy and Alice (Johnson) Strain, brothers George, Dave and sister Colleen Simpson, brothers in law Doug Patterson, Jack Harrison, Archie Panton, Clive Panton and sister in law Mary Panton. John R Strain, a long time resident of Gordon and Gore Bay, will be sadly missed by his family and friends. John was a successful farmer for many years in Gordon Township. Aside from his crops and standard livestock, he dabbled in raising a variety of different animals. He loved to garden on the farm and in town. He was an accomplished and gifted stone mason and carpenter. He will live on through the many creations he has left behind. He enjoyed his mornings with his friends at the coffee club and his sunsets at Smith's Bay. Visitation will be held at the SIMPSON FUNERAL HOME, Gore Bay on Friday August 19, 2016 from 7 - 9 pm. and Saturday August 20 from 10 am until time of the service at 11 am. Interment at Gordon Cemetery.
