Obituary of Arthur Oswald Hinds

HINDS - ARTHUR "Art", passed away in Mindemoya on Saturday, February 25th, 2017 at the age of 80. Born in Gore Bay, the son of the late Dr. Arthur Sr. ("Doc") and the late Jean (nee Purvis) Hinds. Beloved husband of Nicole (nee Best) Hinds of Gore Bay. Loved father of Ossie (Anne) of Toronto and McDougall (Dianne) of Callander. Cherished grandfather of Alex, Rebecca, Christina and Ross. Art was a proud member of the Gore Bay Masonic Lodge and the Sudbury Manitoulin Shriners, and a former member of the Gore Bay Rotary Club. In his younger years, Art worked as a comptroller for Rio Algom Mines in Elliot Lake. He returned to Gore Bay in 1968 to run Central Store, a family business. In the early 1970's he assumed the role of Secretary - Treasurer of the newly formed Manitoulin Planning Board, a position he held for over 20 years. Visitation will be held at Simpson Funeral Home, 3 McQuarrie Boulevard, Gore Bay Ontario on Thursday, March 2, 2017 from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made in memory of Art to the Gore Bay Medical Center, the Shriners Hospitals for Children or a charity of your choice as expressions of sympathy through the funeral home website at www.simpsonfuneralhome.ca.
