Truly sad news. Mr Bainbridge was my hands down favourite teacher period. To this day I think of him every time I hear Bob Dylan. His soft and gentle nature was a great example to all of us growing up.

Bainbridge was one of the first positive male role model I ever had in my life. I was lucky to have him as my teacher for two years, maybe the powers that be knew I needed that influence in my life. I have nothing but warm memories and a sense of feeling safe in his presence. Grade six was a pivotal year for me and he awakened my spirit as a global citizen. I remember that we wrote to pen pals from around the world and m'y pen pal and I are still dear friends more than 30 years later - one cannot put a price on that gift. I often thought of Mr. Bainbridge when I started my teaching career as a grade six teacher. You truly did make a difference, Mr. Bainbridge, thank you for the impact you have made in my life. RIP and wishes of love and light for your family.

Our sympathies and best wishes to Jan and family. I met Don in my first year of teaching @ Tecumseh PS, London ON and felt a kindred spirit in him. As site manager for Home County Arts & Music Festival, he introduced my to the festival and drafted me into volunteering for many years. Crossed paths with him at many a musical event. He will be missed.

So sad to read this news. Mr. Bainbridge was one of my favourite teachers. He helped make my grade six year, and my first year at Tecumseh public school, a memorable one. Mr. Bainbridge taught us how to be world citizens. He wasn't afraid to go beyond the curriculm. He encouraged us to speak out about our beliefs and write to world leaders about the changes we wished to see. He had belief in our ability to make a difference and encouraged us to speak up and out when we had the chance. He was an active environmentalist and he shared his commitment towards the betterment of our communities with his students. I remember him bringing out his guitar and teaching us Joni Mitchell's song, "Paved paradise and put up a parking lot" and having us analyse what the song meant. He taught us to be curious and compassionate young adults. Even more importantly, he taught us to be kind. He genuinely cared about the well-being of all of his students. As a result, I believe he helped to create a classroom of remarkable young people who have all moved on to do great things and raise amazing families of their own. I'm sure Mr. Bainbridge's legacy will live on through some of the choices we have made and perhaps some of the values we have passed on to our own families and friends. I know I keep him firmly in mind when I work with the teachers I teach in my own classrooms today. Rest in peace Mr. Bainbridge. You will be missed.

I was the founding executive director when I hired Don at Madame Vanier Children's Services in the late 1960's. He was one of the first child care workers I hired and I never regretted that. When reading his obituary I see that Don's 72 years was a full and productive life. His friends and family can feel proud that Don made a real contribution to society.
