Obituary of Gurtie Alfreda Noble

In Loving Memory Gurtie Alfreda Noble September 23rd,1925 - January 16th, 2013 Gurtie Noble, a resident of Manitoulin Lodge since July and formerly of Gore Bay and Gordon Township, died Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at the Mindemoya Hospital, at the age of 87. She was born in Gordon Township. Daughter of the late Nelson and Fanny(Ward) Fogal. Following a family tradition of farming Gurtie and Arden were indeed lifelong farmers. Gurtie, ever on the go, also worked outside the home, first at the Gore Bay Telephone Office from 1966 to 1972. Then in 1974, she became the curator of the Gore Bay Museum until 1990. Gurtie was a Life Member of the Women's Institute, joining in 1953. She was a dedicated euchre player, volunteer at Manitoulin Lodge and her most recent achievement was the 50 year Volunteer Award from the province of Ontario in 2011. She had great quilting and sewing skills, much appreciated by her children, grandchildren, and great granchildren. Dearly loved wife of Arden Noble, predeceased in 2006. Loving and loved mother of Gloria Haner, husband Murray of Mindemoya, Elva Carter, husband Don of Gore Bay and Charles Noble, wife Linda of Thorold. Predeceased by infant son Emerson in 1945. Proud Grandmother of Daphne Keller, husband Scott, Allen Haner, wife Stacy, Brian Carter, wife Ginette, Darren Carter, wife Lisa, Amanda Noble and Tammy Lambert, husband Alain. Great Grandmother of Lindsay Lessard (Robert), Ryan Keller(Ashleigh), Kelsie Keller, Benjamin and Christopher Haner, Ty and Reece Carter, Izabella and Sophia Carter, Ashley Noble, Connor and Megan Lambert. Survived by loving brother Alford Fogal, wife Doreen of Gordon Township. Predeceased by brother Emerson and sisters Dorothy, Elva and Gladys. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Also, dear friend of Aline Marois. Friends may call at the Culgin Funeral Home, Gore Bay on Saturday, January 19th, 2013 from 10:00 am till 12:00 pm. The funeral service will be conducted in the Wm. G. Turner Chapel at 12:00 pm, with Pastor Erwin Thompson officiating. Interment Gordon Cemetery. If so desired, donations to the Manitoulin Lodge Auxillary, Gore Bay Medical Centre or the Mindemoya Hospital Auxillary, would be appreciated by the family.
