Obituary of James Donald Strain

In Loving Memory JAMES DONALD STRAIN September 10, 1931 - July 23, 2013 James "Jim" Strain, a resident of Gore Bay, died at the Manitoulin Health Center, Mindemoya Site on Tuesday, July 23rd, at the age of 81 years. He was born in Gore Bay to the late Frederick Strain and Mysa (nee Bell). Jim was retired from the LCBO. His favorite hobbies included farming, gardening and golfing. Beloved husband of Helen Strain. Loving father of Kirk (Wendy) of Capreol, Donna Strain and Ken (Cindy) of North Bay. Predeceased by his spouse Doris "Toots" and his son Colin. Lovingly remembered by his step-daughters Patti (Drew) Purvis of Gore Bay and Bonnie Orford of Kitchener. Survived by his grandchildren Robyn (Chris) Morris, Taryn, Emily, Jamie, step-grandchildren Austin and Nicholas and great grandchildren Ethan, Rylee and Reese. Also survived by his sister Molly (Tom) Riching of Gore Bay and predeceased by his brother Kirk and his wife Anne who is also predeceased. Jim leaves behind many nieces and nephews. As per Jim's request, there will be no visitation. Family and friends are invited to attend a committal service which will be held at the Gordon Cemetery in Gordon Township, on Monday, July 29th, 2013 at 11:00 AM. A reception will follow at the Gordon Hall. If so desired, donations to the Mindemoya Hospital Auxiliary would be greatly appreciated.
